GRAND ROUNDS
A 6 year old boy was detected to have HIV with hemiplegia. His brother and father were also detected to be HIV infected. Mother had died due to TB 3 years ago. Both brothers were started on ART and were regularly following up. Father went to the village after 2 years and married another woman. He did not disclose his HIV status to either the lady or her parents. Six months later the lady was pregnant with 2 months amenorrhea. She was tested for HIV ELISA at this time and found to be negative. Her in-laws want to disclose the HIV status of their son to her but fear family repercussions. They approach the doctor to inform the woman of her husband’s status. The husband is against disclosing this fact.
