A 6 week old girl born to HIV infected parents is referred for further management. Mother was diagnosed to be HIV infected at 7 months of gestation and was put on triple drug ART consisting of Zidovudine, Lamivudine & Nevirapine which she has continued even after delivery. Baby was born of an elective caesarean section and was on formula feeds. No breast feeds were given to the child. On examination, child was normal with weight of 3.8 kg. Systems were normal. Child was advised by the consulting pediatrician to start AZT.

A infant came to us on 45 day of life. mother is on retro viral therapy. For the baby immediately after birth was given nevirapine.after that she was not given zidovudine,due to non availability. Sholud we start zidovudine regime at this stage for a period of 6 weeks.
