A Day 25 old male child was referred as HIV infected in view of a positive HIV ELISA at Day 20 of life. He was born to HIV infected parents. Mother was diagnosed to be HIV infected in 5th month of pregnancy. Subsequently she received Zidovudine (AZT) for 3 months, underwent emergency caesarean section and baby received AZT (2 mg/kg/dose) with no breast feeding. On examination, weight was 3.5 kg, and systemic examination was normal.
